Apologies for the lack of update, life & work has been very very busy.
After deciding to attend AFA 2012's K competition as Reisi and Saru, me and LennethXvii's 2 person team quickly multiply into a 8 person group, which mean now we must give it all to complete the costume in 3 weeks~
Lenneth handled all the sewing while I take care the weapon prop, which was a disaster of its own. Besides that all the shot from the anime differ abit, Scepter 4's weapon is not exactly the everday katana you see on all the anime, is more of a modified Japanese military weapon, which is not exactly the same as its western root as western use a duo edge to allow piercing, unlike Japanese's single edge. To achieve a better quality look I decide to modified it off from a full carbon/ stainless steel weapon, from handle to sheath, while cutting metal can get time consuming, the real problem is the engraving on Resi's blade. I first though about CNC it, however due to the nature of metal, it require alot stronger laser machine for it, which was difficult to find. So instead I tried acid etching and after 4 days of testing and coating, the result was some what acceptable.

But as it turns out 3 days before my flight we find out that Singapore have a very strict weapon policy that all steel weapon, sharpen or not, require a 5 day inspection, be it mailed in and carry in. So, I have to make 2 new blade body in 3 days.

I stacked 6 layer of fiberglass cloth so it can maintain durability while still be very thin.

I fell in love with the stainless steal sheath, the texture and quality it gave out are just so much better than wood sheath I usual work with.
Ofcourse I didn't finished everything on time so I had to pack all the tools with me to try and finish it in Singapore, but the custom took away the 9 cans of spray paint and fiberglass resin/bondo I brought. So I must purchase them again when I was at Singapore, BUT not all of them can be found in Singapore as there are a more limited supply, so I have to repaint most of them. After a 26 hours last min crunch *( I worked from 4 am Friday morning to 6 am Saturday morning) and 1 hour sleep, we went to the AFA 2012
I felt competition could be more organized because:
1. There was not much information given out on the official website, it basically just stayed : Come to the booth before XXX time.
2. While it was announced as group entry was changed to solo entry at the time of registration.
While I did won 2nd place, I felt the best reward was the experience with my group. I rarely cosplay in a group, let along a group that all love their character and understand their character. It was really a blast and an amazing experience that let me have faith again in having a group.

<3 you guys~
